"Ok first things first. This contribution is based on Priest Reynolds Banner Manager which is currently on version 1.5b. I have included all files, Screenshots and information to get you up and running. I must state that I am not a coder and that if anyone would like to take this contribution and make it better I will not be offended as my talent is in looking outside of the square and applying concepts rather than coding.

There are a number of contributions out there which claim they can show your current messenger status or that they can enable someone to launch messenger directly from your store. They don’t work and some of them create issue with security warning messages when a customer initiates an SSL session as images are being drawn from an external source.
This contribution works be simply applying the correct HTML code into a Banner info box which can you can setup to only show your Instant Messenger’s status and enable someone to launch messenger directly from your store. You can also set the information to NOT show when an SSL session is initiated, which stops the “insecure items” warning during SSL sessions. Because this is a banner and controlled through Banner Manager in the admin panel you can also have full control of the items to display.
